The reason we decided to go to Hanmer Springs was because needed to go to Christchurch to change vans. The one we got in Auckland only had a safety certificate for a short period, so we decided we could get another in Christchurch. The Springs were an off the cuff decision. We are so glad. We had a fabulous walk in the morning up Conical Hill, down a great trail to a forest walk and then a trail along Dog Stream. After that, we did what most people go there to do - the thermal springs. Lovely pools of various temps (37-42c) and a fresh water lap pool. Fantastic!! I didn't take my camera in to the pools but suffice it to say they were wonderful. The picture is from Conical Hill. Besides the thermal springs, this is a ski resort (Collingwood ish)
