On the Otago, a very tricky drive along the coast line. Not much room for campervans, trucks, cars and the sea right there! Again, a rainy trip. Found a campground and parked. It poured rain all night. In the morning we headed to the Royal Albatros Conservatory. This is the only place where royal albatros nest on main land. They are remarkable creatures. Huge - wing span of over 3 meters. It takes almost a year to raise one chick and both parents are involved. Gale force winds (I had a helluva time getting from van into the building) but apparently good flying conditions! After our viewing, we went back to the campground a picked up a German woman who is travelling alone by bus and with tent. We took her with us to Te Anau.
