Queenstown

Drove up to Queenstown today. It was cloudy and cold in Te Anau. Apparently, it rains 2 of 3 days there. At Doubtful Sound, annual rainfall of 6-8 meters (yes, that's 20 feet!!!). It became sunny and warm as we drove. Stopped to watch a couple of sheep ranchers and many dogs put 1800 sheep in a field. Yes, I asked how many sheep. Linda says I'm nosey but I think I'm curious. I do have some pictures. Later, we had to drive slowly to allow some sheep moving down the road to change pasture! It was a bit confusing. My camera battery is recharging now. Tomorrow, we are taking an old steam ship across the lake and doing a sheep farm tour. Queenstown is supposed to be the adrenaline capital of the world and we're taking an old steam ship! No bungy jumping for us. Pictures to follow in day or two.

We also had a fun "communications" event today. We were struggling trying to figure out how to get to a holiday camp. Driving along, Linda started yelling "Van" repeatedly and getting mad at me. I couldn't see a van anywhere so I didn't know what to do. Apparently, it was a campervan symbol on a sign that meant I was supposed to turn right. Oops. Who knew? Well, we have now clarified that but need to work on our shorthand.
