NZ was really a place of birds. The only natural mammal is a bat! Everything else has been brought in and now they are trying to eradicate. Deer, stokes (weasels), mice, rats and the hated possum. In the sounds, they are making some islands free of all this in hopes of reintroducing native birds - one which is flightless. Secretary Is is huge and is almost ready! Good on them.
